The agreement, in plain words
What we promise, what we do not, what you may do with the data, and how either side ends it. Shelf is sold for business use: by accepting these terms you confirm you may bind the organisation you are buying for.
The short version
- You get the measurements we publish, at the plan you pay for, for the term you pay for.
- One payment covers 30 days. Nothing is charged again unless you turned on autopay, and you can stop autopay or cancel at any time.
- Use the data inside your business and in reports to your own clients, with our name on it. Do not resell it as a dataset.
- We read a sample of stores on a schedule and publish how large it is. We do not promise completeness.
- Indian law applies, and the courts at Gurugram.
Who this is between
You, and Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited (CIN U58201HR2025PTC135312), a company incorporated in India, which makes and runs Shelf. Its registered office is at C/O WeWork India, DLF Forum, DLF Cyber City Phase III, Sector 24, Gurugram, Haryana 122002, India.
What you get
Access to the measurements we publish, at the plan you pay for, for the term you pay for. Every figure states the reads it is based on, and How we read the apps is part of this agreement: if a number here is defined differently from that page, that page wins.
Your account
You sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email address, and there is no password. Whoever can read that mailbox can sign in, so keep it yours, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You answer for what is done under it.
How it reaches you
Shelf is a product on the web: nothing is shipped. A plan opens on your account when your payment is captured, and the receipt goes to the email address you paid with. If a payment was taken and the plan did not open, write to support@seetheshelf.com and a person finishes it.
What we promise
- We publish what we read and what failed, on the status page, the failures included.
- We never present an inferred match between two apps as an exact one, and we never show a rate without the reads behind it.
- We say a product is absent only where a shelf was read to the end. A read that failed is reported as a gap in coverage, never as something missing.
- We aim to answer support mail within one working day.
What we do not promise
We do not promise completeness. We read a sample of stores on a schedule and we publish the size of that sample. We do not promise that an app will keep showing what it shows today, or that an app will not block a read.
Beyond the specific promises above, Shelf is provided as it is, without further warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted access, or that every figure is free of error. What we do instead is publish the coverage behind every figure, so you can judge how much weight it carries.
We are not affiliated with Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart Minutes, BigBasket, Amazon Now or JioMart, and we have no feed from any of them.
Where the numbers come from, and who owns what
We record what the apps display publicly, the way a shopper in a given pincode sees it. The underlying facts, that a store showed a price at a moment, belong to nobody. What is ours is the measurement around them: the list of stores, which reads were attempted and which completed, the matching across apps, the bases each figure is counted over, and the compilation and analysis as a whole. These are original work and are protected as such.
We reproduce none of the apps’ own creative material: no product photography, no marketing descriptions, no review text, no logos. The site, the software and the Shelf name stay ours. Nothing here transfers them, and rights not granted below are reserved.
What you may do with the data
Use it inside your business, including in reports you give your own clients, with attribution to Shelf (seetheshelf.com). You may not resell it as a dataset, or republish it in bulk as a competing product, without a written agreement. The Agency plan exists so that reselling under your own name is allowed and priced.
Files are counted: a plan that writes Excel and CSV files writes the number of rows a month stated on the pricing page.
Location intelligence's store files (Excel and CSV of every store) open after we approve a short request, within 24 hours of it, and are for use inside the buyer's company. Reselling or sharing the raw store data outside that company is not allowed on any plan, the Agency plan included, without a written agreement, and is a breach of these terms.
Acceptable use
Do not try to defeat the plan limits or the sign-in, probe for capacity, or send load that slows Shelf for others. Do not use it to assemble a substantial part of the underlying dataset for redistribution. Do not use it to identify or profile any individual: it contains no personal data and must not be joined to data that does.
Competition law
Shelf reports historical, observed measurements. We never publish, suggest or recommend a price, and nothing here forecasts what a competitor will do next. You agree not to use the output to coordinate prices or commercial terms with a competitor, or to pass it to a competitor for that purpose.
If a figure is wrong
If you believe a number about your brand is wrong, write to trust@seetheshelf.com. We read the affected stores again on the next pass, and if we were wrong we correct the figure where it appeared and say so on the changelog. This is open to any brand we measure, not only to customers.
Your history
On a paid plan, your history starts a week before your plan begins and grows with every read while your plan carries on.
Payment
A plan is paid for in advance. In India it is paid in rupees, through Razorpay. Outside India it is paid in US dollars, through Dodo Payments, which sells it to you as our online reseller and merchant of record: it takes the payment, collects any tax of your country and sends you the invoice. One payment covers 30 days, or a year where we offer a yearly term. Nothing is charged again unless you turned on autopay, which charges the same amount every month until you stop it; you stop it from Account at any time, and the term already paid runs to its end. Without autopay, the next term is a payment you choose to make. Where we have agreed a bank transfer with a company, it pays against the invoice we make, and its plan opens once we have found the payment.
Prices in India are in rupees and include GST: the price you see is the price you are charged. A receipt goes to the email address you pay with, and it is your GST invoice. To have the invoice made out to your company, add its name, its GSTIN and its address when you pay. Prices outside India are in US dollars and include any tax of your country; the payment page can also show them in your own currency, converted at its rate. The refund policy says when money comes back.
Ending it
You can cancel at any time from your account page, and you keep access to the end of the term you paid for. We can end an account for non-payment, for a breach of the acceptable use section, or for reselling in breach of the section on what you may do with the data. We give notice, and we refund the unused part of the term pro rata unless the cause is abuse.
Liability, and your indemnity
Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the preceding twelve months. We are not liable for decisions taken on the data: every figure carries its coverage so that you can judge whether it is strong enough for the decision you are making.
You will cover us against third-party claims arising from your use of the output, including how you present it, and from any breach of the sections on what you may do with the data, acceptable use or competition law. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
The usual general clauses
Neither of us is liable for a failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, including an app changing or withdrawing what it shows. You may not assign this agreement without our written consent; we may assign it to a successor of the business. If a clause is held unenforceable, the rest stands.
These terms, How we read the apps, the refund policy and the data processing addendum are the whole agreement between us and replace anything said earlier. Changes are announced on the changelog with a date, and take effect no sooner than thirty days later, except where a change only benefits you.
Trademarks
Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Flipkart Minutes, Amazon Now, JioMart, FirstClub, Myntra M-Now, Nykaa Now, Zepto Pharmacy, Zepto Cafe, Bistro, Swish, Supertails, OZi, Peeko, Plazza, Slikk, ZILO, KNOT and DMart Ready, their icons, and the brand names shown in the data, are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here to identify what was measured. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.
