Shelf is independent of every app on this page. Their names and icons are here only to say which app was read.

Your launch abroad

Open one country on your own category.

Reads abroad are not part of Shelf’s plans yet. Tell us the country, your category and your products, and a person replies with what we can open for your launch.

  1. Your category’s shelf: the brands that hold it, and the products with an Indian barcode.
  2. Search: what a shopper sees first, and who held the sponsored places.
  3. The stores: each app’s dark stores on our list, city by city.
Ask about the UAE

We aim to reply within one working day. Shelf does not list, import or sell anything, and gives no advice on another country’s rules.

Questions teams going abroad ask

Is this the whole market in each country?

No count here claims that. These are the stores on our list: each app’s own answers, counted one by one from the apps’ own store lists. Apps we have not read yet, such as Careem Quik and Amazon Now in the UAE, are not in the counts, and apps that sell from partner shops, such as InstaShop, elGrocer, GrabMart and iFood, are left out.

Why is South Africa drawn hatched?

In South Africa, Sixty60 and Pick n Pay asap! deliver in minutes from supermarkets, not from dark stores. They are counted apart, as 590 supermarkets that deliver in minutes, and never added to the dark stores.

What does “also on India’s quick commerce apps” mean?

A brand on a shelf abroad whose name matches a brand we see on Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket or Flipkart Minutes, and that a person has checked is the same brand. It says nothing about who owns the brand or where it comes from: many are multinationals.

What is a product with an Indian barcode?

A product whose barcode starts with 890, the numbers GS1 India gives out. A barcode’s first digits say where the number was issued, not where the product was made or who owns it. Only Talabat Mart, Sixty60 and PedidosYa Market give barcodes, so the figure is shown only where they sell.

Is a featured result on Ninja an ad?

Ninja marks some results as featured. We have not seen that it is paid for, so this page says featured by the app and keeps it apart from sponsored places.

Why do some apps show no sponsored places?

Talabat Mart has no search on the web; HungerStation Market, Daki and PedidosYa Market show no sponsored mark in their search; Astro showed none to a shopper who was not signed in. Where an app shows no mark, the page says so in words and never prints a share for it.

Does Shelf show what a brand sells abroad?

No. No app publishes its sales by store or by product, and Shelf never estimates them. It shows what is on the shelf and in search, store by store.

Will Shelf get us listed, or advise on import rules?

No. Shelf is independent of every app and does not list, import or sell anything, and it gives no legal or regulatory advice. Getting onto an app is between your company, your distributor in that country and the app.

Can we see this for our own category?

Yes, by arrangement: reads abroad are not part of Shelf’s plans yet. Tell us the country, your category and your products, and a person replies within one working day with what we can open for you.
