Shelf in facts
What it reads, what it shows, and what it costs.
Each answer is one or two sentences, written from the same figures as every other page.
- What is Shelf?
- Shelf (seetheshelf.com) is quick commerce intelligence for brands. It reads India’s quick commerce apps independently, store by store, and shows a brand its rivals’ ads, its rank in search, its shelf in each store, where each app’s dark stores are, and which categories have room for a new product.
- Which apps does Shelf read?
- 22 apps. The grocery apps, Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Flipkart Minutes, Amazon Now and JioMart, each with its shelf store by store and its search results, and the paid slots on Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Flipkart Minutes and JioMart. And 15 more (FirstClub, Myntra M-Now, Slikk, ZILO, KNOT, Nykaa Now, Zepto Pharmacy, Plazza, Supertails, OZi, Peeko, Zepto Cafe, Bistro, Swish and DMart Ready), read store by store on a screen of their own and never added to the grocery apps.
- How often is it read?
- Every store on the apps we read is read again every day (JioMart and Amazon Now twice a day), and every read is kept as history. Pro is refreshed every day, and every hour in your target cities once set up. Free is refreshed every week.
- How many stores does Shelf read?
- The shelves of 11,234 stores on the grocery apps (dark stores, and Amazon Now’s and JioMart’s own stores), each read on its own, every day. On the category apps, 831 stores, cafes and kitchens.
- What does Shelf cost?
- Free for your own brand. Pro, the whole product, is ₹29,999 a month, GST included, and Pro Research, the same plan for investors and researchers, the same. Pay once for 30 days, or turn on autopay and stop it any time; there is no minimum term.
- Does Shelf need a seller login or an ad account?
- No. It reads the apps independently, store by store. It never asks for a seller login or an ad account, so it holds nobody’s sales and nobody’s ad spend.
- What can a brand see?
- Ads intelligence: which brands hold the paid slots on your keywords and on your own name. Search intelligence: where you rank in the unpaid results, for each keyword in each city. Shelf intelligence: the dark stores where a rival is on the shelf and you are not. Price intelligence: your price beside a rival’s on each app, and what changed since the previous read. Location intelligence: every store of every app Shelf reads, refreshed every week: where each one is, every detail, and what changed. Product intelligence: which categories have room to enter, who sells them, at what price and pack, and what a rival sells that you don’t. On search, a keyword finder sets every keyword’s competition beside its signs of demand, and shows where each brand ranks on it.
- How is a keyword’s competition and demand read?
- Competition is how crowded a keyword’s first 10 unpaid results are: the leading brand’s share, the first three brands’ share and how many brands hold paid slots, against the other keywords on the same app. No app publishes search volume, so demand is read from what the apps show: brands holding paid slots on the keyword, whether it is a head keyword, and how often the app lists products shoppers searched for and could not get.
- How does Shelf help decide what to launch?
- Product research sets every category on an app by how crowded its shelf is (the top three brands’ share of listings, the brands for each shelf place, the app’s own labels, discount depth and, where printed, ratings) beside its signs of demand (the stores carrying it, how deep a typical store’s shelf of it is, ratings per product), and lists the ones with room to enter by a fixed rule. One category is then read in depth: its brands, its price ladder with the price points nobody fills, its pack sizes and the cities where its shelf is thin. A founder or researcher with no brand of their own reads it the same way. It shows listings and the apps’ own marks, never sales, and what to launch stays the reader’s call.
- Can a brand outside India use Shelf?
- Yes. A team planning to launch in India can set up a research account, which needs no brand on the apps, and see every brand in its category: the price per 100 g, the pack sizes, the searches and the paid slots, app by app. A company abroad pays by bank transfer or Wise, against an invoice in its currency (seetheshelf.com/pricing).
- Does Shelf show sales or ad spend?
- No. It shows where paid results appeared, never spend, bids, clicks or return, and it shows listings, stock and prices, never units sold. Those are the apps’ and the advertisers’ own numbers.
- Who makes Shelf?
- Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited (CIN U58201HR2025PTC135312), C/O WeWork India, DLF Forum, DLF Cyber City Phase III, Sector 24, Gurugram, Haryana 122002, India. Write to support@seetheshelf.com. It is independent of every app it reads and has no feed from any of them.
- How do I quote a figure from Shelf?
- With its source line: the figure, what it is out of and the address it came from. Every main table carries one to copy, and the brand page sets out the wording.
